25 Days of Christmas 2017: Day 24

Tomorrow is Christmas! So I thought it would be fun to share a short story/poem.

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring not even a mouse.

While the cookies were placed right next to the tree. These two littles had heard and scurried right out of their bed.

They walked down their ramp and out to the hall where their eyes met old St. Nick’s cookies and nog.

As they ate and they drank to their tummies delight, we wish you a Merry Christmas and to all a good night.

We hope you enjoyed this fun little treat you can watch the video we made HERE! Merry Christmas Eve!

25 Days of Christmas 2017: Day 21

THERE IS ONLY 4 MORE DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS! I cant believe we are almost done with 25 Days of Christmas, this is insane! So today I thought it would be fun to do a DIY! Tea Light Snowmen are the cutest and super easy to make…so lets get started!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Battery operated tea light
  • Black sharpie
  • Red polka dot ribbon
  • Thin silk red ribbon
  • Red pipe cleaners
  • Red pom poms
  • Orange sharpie
  • Glue gun

WHAT TO DO:

  1. With your black sharpie draw on your snowman’s face.
  2. Next cut your pipe cleaner about 2.5″ long and glue it on the top of your tea light.
  3. Add the pom pom’s at the end of the pipe cleaners so it will look like ear muffs.
  4. For the scarf, cut out about 4.5″ of your ribbon gluing the back of your ribbon to the back of the tea light. I also crossed the front of the ribbon and added a little glue to help it looks like more like a scarf.
  5. Slip the thin red ribbon under the pipe cleaner and tying the ends together.
  6. Color the light orange….and BAM! Your little snowman tea light is complete!

christmas_crafts-1.png

If you want to make them a little different you can use black felt to make a little top hat, you can also use different color pipe cleaners and pom pom’s to make You can hang these up and decorate your house, your tree or your pups kennel with them. I think these are the cutest little snowman’s ever and they are so easy and inexpensive to make.

The only thing this drink is missing is of course the Disney magic. Other than that I feel like the drink is pretty spot on.

25 Days of Christmas 2017: Day 18

Decorating Disney Holiday Magic! Tonight premiered the show that took us backstage, behind the Disney magic to see how the Holiday magic comes to life! So, you know I am a HUGE Disney fan so watching this episode I was in awe. Everything that it takes to make the holidays in the park come to life is AMAZING, and it makes me love and appreciates those decorations that much more seeing how it was brought to life.

The number of lights that and decorations are escorted by police to get to the parks is mind-blowing. WDW has a 54 thousand square foot warehouse that is filled with decor, that is an insane amount of decorations. The tree alone is 70 feet and 35-40 thousand pounds of trees! These workers get all that up in just one night if that’s not hard work and Disney magic than I don’t know what is.

contemporarytree-f.jpg

The Main Street Tree in Walt Disney World like the other 9  iconic trees in the park have custom ornaments, but the popcorn on Main Street is crafted to match the original decor in 1971. There are over 10 thousand ornaments and over a quarter of a million lights just to decorate the iconic and lobby trees. The tree in the Contemporary Hotel are all painted street lamp bulbs, which you can see from 25 miles away.

Heading back into Disneyland, one of the most iconic rides Its A Small World gets a makeover and turns into Its A Small World Holiday bringing every doll a bit of holiday magic. Some get a full holiday outfit while other get a few holiday accessories. There are 50 thousand lights on the exterior facade of Its A Small World, while 350 thousand mini lights in the trees, bushes, topiaries, and hedges. One of my favorite building to look at during Holiday at the parks, it blows my mind every year.

GrandFla-GingerHouse-201511

Going back over to Walt Disney World in the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, its time to talk about the ever so famous Gingerbread House. It stands 17 feet tall, 12 feet long, and 10 feet wide not only is this thing massive and can walk through it, but you can also eat it. The house takes 1,050 pounds of honey, 700 pounds of chocolate, 800 pounds of flour, 35 pounds of spices. So you can imagine how amazing it smells when you walk in. I was lucky enough to see it in all its glory and highly suggest seeing it because you won’t regret it.

Back at Disneyland is my ALL TIME FAVORITE holiday attraction Haunted Mansion Holiday. Haunted Mansion comes to life with a little help from Jack Skellington and his mischievous friends from Tim Burtons Nightmare Before Christmas. Now, as amazing and magical as this ride is when it gets its holiday overlay for me it’s all about the little details that make me appreciate the attraction that much more. For instance, the gingerbread house in the ballroom scene changes every year and is actually made up of real gingerbread. Imagineers also modified the table in the ballroom so when they put the house up, they can roll it right into place.

In the seance room, you can find Madame Leota reading your tarot cards. In the classic mansion, the wonderful Imagineer Leota Toombs voices Madame Leota. Not only did she voice Leota, but she also worked on all the pirate heads in Pirates of the Caribbean along with their costumes. She also relocated to WDW in 1971 to start up the onsite team that would maintain the shows and attractions. In 1979 she transferred back to Disneyland where she trained many Disneyland figure finishers and artisans while working in several different capacities. Unfortunately, Leota passed away December 1991.

9_14_DL_000994.jpg

Kim Irvine, the daughter of Leota Toombs, was offered and accepted to be the voice the holiday Madame Leota in honor of her mom. So her legacy will continue to carry on in the park, but she is not the only one. There are tributes all throughout the Haunted Mansion with names of Imagineers on the naughty and nice list along with the tags of gifts are of the original creators, designers, and producers along with two cast members who have passed away: Bill King scenic touch up artist and Kristin Plummer who was the head decorator. One of my favorite scenes will have to be Pumpkin Mountain, surrounded by  7,500 square feet of snow at the base. There are also 69 pumpkins that tower to the ceiling as a tribute to when the Mansion first opened in 1969.

I honestly love spending the holidays in the parks, everything is just extra magical.

25 Days of Christmas 2017: Day 17

The annual Christmas walk was tonight, but we switched things up just a little bit. Yes, we walked around the neighborhoods BUT we also did a little trip walking around the city.

Capturefsfs

We walked around City Hall and took some pictures, unfortunately the pups were wiggle worms, but I did get a great shot of the building.

ghirardelliscreen.jpg

Next we went over to Ghiradelli square because I feel like its super magical and has a ton of Holiday vibes. We got our free chocolate square, and some of us got a Hot Chocolate because it was cold. Yes although we all walk around some of the fam still gets cold and needs a little bit of Hot Coco to keep them warm.

20121123-sf-tree-lighting-after-2.jpgNow this has to be my ALL TIME FAVORITE place to visit in the city, we have Christmas trees, an Ice Skating Rink, and Hot Chocolate BUT we also have puppies, and kittens that need homes in the window. You can donate to the SPCA and get info in case you are interested in bringing home a furry friend. What makes this year even more special is that you can for $10.00 play with puppies for 10 minutes. The money gets donated back to the shelter to you are literally buying 10 minutes of happiness. Since, I had my pups I did not get to play with all the puppies but I did donate and I will be back to play with them soon.

25 Days of Christmas 2017: Day 15

The iconic Dinsey California Adventure attraction California Screamin’ will be getting a bit of makeover in a pretty incredible new coaster called “The Incredacoaster.” The remake will keep its existing structure but add a few new elements themed around the superhero family The Incredibles, which has a sequel slotted to open July 14, 2018.

california-screamin

California Screamin’ was built from steel and opened with the park in 2001. Designed to resemble an old fashion rollercoaster from the 1920’s pleasure piers. The track is more than one mile long and takes riders from 0-55 mph in four seconds.

The Incredible, humorous collection of superheroes each with their own special gifts, will race alongside riders trying to catch their baby Jack Jack. The existing tunnels on the ride will be enclosed and Mrs. Incredible also known as Elastagirl will stretch over the heads of guest trying to catch her baby.

California-Screamin-Will-Become-The-Incredicoaster

The loading area will be a soaring glass mid-century-modern building inspired by the families home in the movie. Music will come from the new Incredibles 2 movie coming to theaters in summer 2018. Personally, I am excited about both the attraction and the ride. It seems like a great update and will have a lot of people lining up to see The Incredacoaster!

21st Century Fox will separate from the Fox Broadcasting network and stations: Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, FS1, FS2 and Big Ten Network into newly listed companies that will be spun off to its shareholders. Popular entertainment joining the Disney family include Avatar, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Deadpool, Anastasia, Modern Family, The Simpsons, and so much more.

As cool as I think this is, I do have my worries, BUT I think that is completely normal. I think this is a great step for Disney, now everyone who says Anastasia is a Disney Princess isn’t completely wrong. Although, for me, she is still an unofficial official Disney Princess. I’m curious to see if Disney will have a coronation ceremony for her or if she will stay an unofficial Disney princess? There are so many arguments going on in my head, what are your thoughts on everything going on? Let me know in the comments below!
