DOGtober 2017: Day 18

Today we went for a nice walk around the block, slow and steady for the little chub Tarzan. Honestly, he is doing great and has recovered perfectly, but I’m still following the vets orders and he’s not allowed a ton of excercise and hard food until the 14 days are up.

His gums look amazing and his sister is all about being his little shadow again which I love because they are the cutest. The pups and I also did more 13 Nights of Halloween things because tomorrow is the start of DIY’s, recipes and fun fact about this spooktacular season! Thanks for joining us for our first ever DOGtober and we hope to you continue to follow us during 13 Nights!

DOGtober 2017: Day 17

Today the pups and I made a bow, and than laid on the couch and watched TV. We have been running around with our heads cut off all this morning so I thought it would be a good time to sit and take a breather before we get back into the swing of things tomorrow.

Tarzan’s gums looks great! They aren’t swollen and Belle is back cuddling with her brother and it fills my heart.

DOGtober 2017: Day 16

Today was a crazy day for the pups and I! Since we are only three days away from 13 Nights of Halloween, we were doing a lot more preparations for those up coming blogs!

Tarzan is still recovering beautifully, unfortunately he really hates his liquified food and just wants to eat his sister but he has one more week of it. He did however like the pumpkin spice pupcakes I made tonight which we will be posting up the recipes in a couple more days. I honestly can’t wait to show you all the crafts the pups and I have been working on!

DOGtober 2017: Day 15

Today was a very active Sunday, to be honest, I rarely get a Sunday Funday of just relaxing around the house. But the puppers and I had a lot of work that needed to be done today. The first thing we did was go to Michaels and Target, then proceeded to go take our Nani to the grocery store, so the littles stayed home. Once I got back, we cleaned and prepped everything for 13 nights of Halloween.

We went for a small walk down to the end of the block and back to stretch our legs and get some fresh air. Then proceded to clean the house and grind up more food for Tarzan so he can eat. He was given his antibiotics, and we took some spooktacular pictures, and now we are off to bed after a very eventful day.

DOGtober 2017: Day 14

Today the pups and I had a bit of a playdate outside, although Tarzan is limited to exercise the littles didn’t really play more so stretched their legs. There is a tiny patch of grass outside of our house that and I decided it would be good for them to get some fresh air.

It was only the two of them, and they both ran back and forth for maybe a minute before lying in the sun together. They are such lazy pups and would much rather lay in the sun than run around like typical pups would but none the less, they are perfect just the way they are.

DOGtober 2017: Day 13

Starting in two days on Oct. 15, dogs are welcomed at these four  Walt Disney World Hotels:

  • Art of Animation Resort $50/night
  • Port Orleans Riverside Resort $50/night
  • Yacht Club Resort $75/night
  • Cabins at Disney’s Ft. Wilderness Resort $50/night

Guests are allowed a maximum of two dogs per room, and each guest will have access to pet walkways for exercise and green spaces with pet relief areas. During the dog lovers check in our furry friends will receive a Plutos Welcome Kit that includes:

  • A mat
  • Bowls
  • Pet ID tag
  • Plastic disposable bags
  • Puppy pads
  • Pluto’s “Do Not Disturb” sign to notify the staff that a pet is in the room.

Disney also has a partnership with Best Friends Petcare which is an on property full-service pet facility that assists with pet daycare and other pet services (fees apply). Pets will be allowed to stay in guests rooms but expected to be well behaved, on a leash in public resort areas and of course adequately vaccinated. Also, pet merchandise will soon be coming to the participating resorts!

Not being able to have a dog-friendly hotel was my only complaint about visiting WDW, and now I can go more often and not have to find a babysitter for my little love bugs because they will be with me in my hotel room! They have already experienced five years of Disneyland trips and now get to enjoy all of our WDW trips too! What are your thoughts about this new change? Let me know in the comments below!

DOGtober 2017: Day 12

Tarzan is doing great! So far. Some of the things that I have to look for is bleeding in the gums, he’s not going to the bathroom regularly and making sure there isn’t any redness and swelling or discharge.Thankfully, he has been eating, drinking and going to the bathroom perfectly fine. Everything looks PERFECT!

Since he is not supposed to exert a lot of energy we have literally been taking it super easy and relaxing. The one thing I did notice that was strange, was his sister Belle. She has always been glued to his side and always sitting on his head (weird sibling thing). To be honest, I am a little worried but not fully because I think she found a little independence which is great but it is kind of sad if she if she is avoiding him because she is scared of him. I guess I will keep an eye on those two and see how it plays out.

DOGtober 2017: Day 11

Day one of Tarzan’s return is complete. He slept through the night perfectly fine, which although I didn’t get any sleep because I wanted to make sure he was going to be ok and still breathing (worry wart) any little move, sneeze or breathe he took I was up and making sure he was ok. This is also his full first day of being on the antibiotics he takes 0.5ml twice a day every 12 hours.

Basically once I wake up and the other when we go to bed, Since he had surgery on his mouth and is required to be on a liquid diet I made sure to grind up some dog food and let it soak up in hot water twice a day so he can eat. All in all, he recovering amazingly!

DOGtober 2017: Day 10

Today was a very stressful day, but I am so happy that my little guy is home and healthy as ever! I called the vet to check in on Tarzan at 1pm to make sure that he was ok, and thankfully it was. I picked him up at 3pm and boy was I happy to see he was pretty much himself. The vets went over the aftercare and the antibiotics with me. So for 14 days, he needs to eat soft food, with limited exercise. His antibiotics need to be given twice a day for seven days. I have to look for bleeding, vomiting and making sure he poops! If he doesn’t poop for 24-48 hours after surgery is ok, any longer than we have a problem.

When I picked him up, he was in the receptionist’s arms. Most people would be mad, but honestly, they were giving him love and making sure that he was ok. They were all shocked that he bounced back, but wanted to keep a close eye on him. All of them were giving him kisses and holding him they also tried to do his hair. This is another reason why I absolutely LOVE our vet because they go above and beyond for their patients.
