Disness: Pinocchio!

Pinocchio is the second animated film released by Disney in 1940. Its a story about a living puppet who has to prove himself worthy to become a real boy with the help of his conscience, name Jiminy Cricket. The film is 1 hour and 28 minutes long and is based off of the Italian book The Adventures of Pinocchio written by Carlo Collodi written in 1883.

md16816927669In oder for people to root for Pinocchio, they drew him as a real boy and added the nuts and bolts to make him a puppet. Disney also changed up the story a bit but also stayed true to the book. For instance, there was a cricket in the original story but Pinocchio smooshed him with a hammer and the cricket returned as a ghost…whereas in Disney’s version Jiminy is Pinocchio’s conscience and doesn’t get smooshed by a hammer.

giphyWhen i think of Pinocchio i think about mainly two things; the art and of course the song “When You Wish Upon A Star”. When i watch the movie, you can see a lot of small detail that make Pinocchio stand out from the others, for example when you are watching all the cuckoo clocks for Geppetto’s shop were based off of working models built as guides for the animators. Not only that but if you look to the left of the screen when the spotlight hits Jiminy as he is singing ‘When You Wish Upon A Star” you can see two books behind him titled: Alice in Wonderland (1951) and Peter Pan (1953).

4AcN2fcIt was the first animated movie EVER to win an Academy Award in a competitive category. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs won an Honorary Academy for being the first ever animated film. Pinocchio was also the first ever film (animated or not) to win an Academy Award for best Score and best Song. This wouldn’t happen again until 1964 with Mary Poppins.

51pMZfQET3L._SY445_Unfortunately the movie didn’t succeed in its initial theatric run due to many different war efforts going on in Europe and Asia, but it made its money back when it was re-released in 1945. Pinocchio was the first Disney film to be released on DVD, plus this Disney classic was re-released several times in theater from the initial released date to 1992.

Cleo-and-Figaro-Pinocchio-1Pinocchio is one of my favorite because i love the Blue Fairy, Figaro and of course Cleo. The movie definitely implanted in my brain to always let my conscience be my guide which i use in everyday life. What is your favorite thing about this Disney classic? This new policy will begin August 16.

Racing over to Walt Disney World, Celebrating its 10th anniversary the annual Tour de Turtles! Every year on July 29 guests can go to Disney’s Vero Beach Resort to watch as two nesting turtles race to get to the ocean. This year marked its 10th anniversary and while your there you can talk to conservationist where they can tell you how you can do your part in saving the ocean!

Dumbo live action directed by the one and only Tim Burton is an adaption of the 1941 Disney classic. The circus owner Max Medici enlists him to be the care taker of a new born elephant whose oversized ears which makes him the laughing stock in an already struggling circus. Its Holds children are the ones who discovers that Dumbo can fly, while a very persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere and aerial artist Colette Merchant swop in to make a star. Bug Juice Revival?

The original productions of Bug Juice premiered February 28, 1998 originally produced by Ross, Clapp and Gallagher who will be returning for the revival along with  Alex Baskin. The series ran for three seasons: first season took place at Camp Waziyatah, second season was filmed at Camp Highlander in Horse Shoe, North Carolina and the last of the series took place at Brush Ranch Camp in Terror, New Mexico. It was the first unscripted show that Disney Channel aired.

Nearly 2 decades after the original series, it is now time to head back to Camp Waziyatah the premier of the show will coordinate with the shows 20th anniversary, as a new group of children will return to the camp in 2018 as the production is currently underway in Waterford, Maine. Since reality TV has changed so much since its original debut, i hope there is room for 14 year olds as the show is expected to mirror the original by featuring a cabin of teen boys and teen girls.

So what are your thoughts on the revival of a Disney Channel Classic? Let me know in the comments below!

Disness: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs!

Walt Disney;s First ever animate feature film was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs which premiered at the Carthay Circle Theater December 21, 1937 in Los Angeles, CA. The film was directed by William Cottrell and David Hand, its 1h 23 min long and rated G.

The storyline goes as such: Snow white is pursued but a jealous queen which she has to then hide with the Dwarfs while later the queen finds out Snow white is still alive and prepares to feed her a poison apple. The voice starred  Adriana Caselotti as Snow White, Cordelia Ferreira as the Evil Queen, Lucille La Verne as the Queen/Witch, Moroni Olsen as the Magic Mirror and Harry Stockwell as the Prince.

Without the Dwarfs the movie wouldn’t be as entertaining because the Dwarfs stole the show. Dopey one of my favorite dwarfs because he is very dog like…he sleeps like a dog, he chases the soap like a dog and shakes water off like one and i LOVE it which is why he is my favorite aside from Grumpy. Grumpy starts off hating Snow White and throughout the course of the movie makes snarky comments about women, but in the end Grumpy does the most to save her.

Snow White is the first film to have a soundtrack. It has a lot of amazing songs like my favorites Im Wishing/One Song and of course With A Smile and A Song. Don’t get me wrong i love Heigh-Ho, Whistle Whistle You Work and Someday My Prince Will Come but those are definitely my favorite.

Roy Disney created the sound of the floor creaking with Dopey’s slow footsteps by slowly bending an empty leather waller back and forth. Behind the Queen as she stride down to the basement to perform her spell you can see a hidden Mickey formed by three stones. Snow White was the first full length movie to use the multi plane camera to give the animation cells more depth.

Convinced that the film would fail the Hollywood film industry labeled the film “Walt Disney’s Folly” but instead of failing the film won a special Academy Award, one standard Oscar and seven miniature statuettes on a stepped base. It was also the highest grossing film ever for exactly one year but it was knocked out of the top spot by Gone with the Wind (1939). The profits the movie made allowed Disney to Build the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs for me is a very respectable movie because years and years later children still know who she is and in 2014 Walt Disney World built a new ride  based off the film and a star on the Hollywood walk of fame.

Disney Movie Facts!

I am completely obsessed with Disney movies so i thought it would be fun to share some fun facts about some Disney/Pixar movies! So lets get started!

At a point in Ratatouille’s development, Remy had a mother named Desiree.

All the child screams in Monsters Inc. were supplied by the animators kids.

For Cars, the filmmakers brought in a broadcast sports director to help advise the racing scenes.

Before Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was completed, 750 artists drew more than two million sketches, the movie ultimately contained more than 250,000 separate pictures.

The women in the ink and paint department applied real makeup to cels of the Snow White to give her more of a rosy complexion.

After Purdom left Beauty and the Beast, screenwriter Linda Woolverton was hired to rewrite the script. Her only writing experience had been writing  a few episodes of Disney’s Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue rangers.

Nana was originally suppose to travel to Neverland with the children.

Lilo & Stitch was the first animated film since Dumbo to use watercolor painted backgrounds.

My favorite Disney movie fact on this list has to be that at a point Remy had a mother named Desiree, which i find pretty awesome because Desiree is my name! What is your favorite Disney Movie Fact? Let me know in the comments below!

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is inspired by the 1816 story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by E.T.A Hoffman. The Disney Live action film is said to be released November 2, 2018 but is now pushed back to 2019.
