Newsies on Broadway!

My dreams have finally come true!!! I FINALLY get to see Newsies on broadway…sort of.

Lets start from the beginning, I bought my mom and i tickets when it came to San Francisco…unfortunately we both got very caught up with work and completely missed the show…it killed me. Than, we purchased tickets to see it when it came to theaters and to no surprise we missed that too.

It honestly killed me, and still till this day i am very upset that we missed Newsies on broadway…the only thing i didn’t miss was purchasing the Broadway version of newsies on iTunes and well its has not left my TV and i completely beat myself up for not seeing it  when i had the chance.

The production is absolutely AMAZING! I loved it and fell in love with the songs even more than when i first heard the album. Although it is slightly different than the movie, i honestly can’t compare the two because they are both so unique and magical in their own ways i personally can’t compare the two.

What are your thoughts on Newsies on Broadway? Let me know in the comments below.

Disney Movie Updates!!!

Some of the exciting news I’ve heard in a while when it comes to Disney movies. Disney has told us the release dates for these movies:

Disney Also released dates for upcoming movies that have yet to find a titles. The two that have me very curious are:

Personally i am so excited for all these upcoming movie updates especially Star Wars Ep. 9 has the release date of May 24, 2019 and Star Wars Land is opening in 2019 so you know both premiers are going to be HUGE!

What upcoming movie are you most excited for? Let me know in the comments below!

On this day: Newsies!

One of my all time favorite Disney movies Newsies, based on the New York City newsboys strike of 1899 directed by Kenny Ortega, starring Christian Bales, Bill Pullman, Robert Duvall and many more talented actors and actresses. The movie was released April 10, 1992, 25 years ago.

Before filming began most of he cast trained in dance and martial arts for 10 weeks.

While Jack Kelly is singing “Santa Fe” theres a part where he is riding a horse. The part when his arms are thrown out and he us bent back,he is actually riding on the shoulders of he stunt master.

At the time this was one of the lowest grossing live action movies in Walt Disney Studios history.

The movie became a stage musical which premiered at the Papermill Playhouse in New Jersey in 2011. The music and lyrics by Alan Menken (who composed the movies music) and Jack Feldman (the movies lyricists) and a new book by playwright and actor Harvey Fierstein. March 2012 the musical moves to Broadway and closed two years later: a North American tour launched in 2014.

The dress that Ele Keats (Sarah Jacobs) wears in “High Time, Hard Times” number is an authentic 1899 dress. The costumer had to consistently sew up small holes because the dress was so old and delicate.

The song “King of New York” was written as an afterthought by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman and became their favorite song in the movie.

April 10 1992 would have been Joseph Pulitzer’s 145th birthday.

As a prank the boys filled Kenny Ortega’s dressing room with newspapers.

At the end of the week, the newsies took it upon themselves to torment Kenny. When an opportune bucket of water missed it mark, Christian Bale and David Moscow soaked him with, as Ortega described it as “water uzis”.

Honestly if you have not seen this movie i highly recommend it, it is so amazing and magical in its own way. These boys fought for their rights they took a stand to make a change. I did have tickets to see it on Broadway but unfortunately missed my opportunity because of work…

Have you seen Newsies? What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments below.

Peter Pan!

Peter Pan flew into our hearts Feb. 5 1953, 64 years years  ago. It was based on the 1904 play by Sir J.M. Barrie.

As young boys Walt and Roy Disney saw a touring version of the plain in 1913 in their hometown of Marceline, Missouri…where later Walt played the starring role of Peter Pan in a school play.

Peter Pan is one of the few films that included the work by all “Nine old men” the original Disney animator. Actor Hand Corned not only provided the voice of Captain Hook as well as Mr. darling, he also acted in reference footage that was filmed to guide the animators.

Happy Anniversary to the boy who doest grow up. I know the will be brining many happy thoughts to many more generations.

This Week In Disney!

This week in Disney is CRAZY!!! There is so much going on. Mickeys Birthday, opening of PizzaRizzo’s, Tree Trail, runDisney Paris, Moana name change and so much more! So let dig into the Magic!!

To start us off this week is the big cheese Mickey Mouse, Happy 88th Birthday Mickey! Of course he’s been traveling non stop in his birthday month BUT the fun doest stop there, the parks will be singing happy birthday to our pal Mickey, so will you be in a park to celebrate?

Today is the OFFICIAL opening of PizzaRizzo in Walt Disney’s Hollywood Studios, so be sure to check out his restaurant and of course be sure to check it out! Along with their regular menu you they will have an Allergy Friendly such as gluten free, vegan free and dairy free options. Oh and remember “clean it up! Your ma don’t work here!”

Tree Trail opened Nov. 11, and will stay open until Jan. 8 2017. The trees are amazing and if you are thinking about going to check them out i highly encourage you to go and check it out plus you can tell the big guy what you would like this Christmas! My favorite tree was definitely the villains tree.

Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! Made its debut Nov 14 in Hollywood Studios in Florida. Its the new show that replace the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. The show stars many favorites including like Wayne and Lanny From “Prep & Landing” which projects animation onto the Chinese Theater. I personally thought the show was so cute and Disney of course did a great job with it but no matter what Osborne Family Lights will always have a place in my heart!

Under The Stars: Moana This is taking place in the Polynesian Resort Sunday Nov. 20th, I’m kind of bummed that i won’t be able to go because i think the Polynesian Resort is a perfect spot to watch this fierce princess. Are you going??

The Wonderful World Of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration hosted by the lovely siblings Derek and Julianne Hough have recently taped the thanksgiving parade and it will soon hit on ABC Nov. 24 from 8-10pm ET.

Disney Springs Smtarbright Holidays-An Intel Collaboration will be making its debut Sunday Nov. 20 at 7:00 pm and another showing at 8:30 pm. Guests will watch as 300 show drones light up the night sky while guests listen to classic holiday music which was recorded by a full orchestra. Personally i think its going to be a pretty cool show!

Over in DCA Princess Elena of Avalor has arrived along with all the festivities such as the festive foods in the marketplace kiosks, Festival Entertainment, Disney Viva Navidad, Princess Elena’s Grand Arrival and of course Santa’s Holiday Visit.

Moana name change? Its been rumored that when Disney releases Moana in Italy they will be changing the films name to Oceania.

As for runDisney Paris there are only three more days to sign up to run in Disneyland Paris so be sure to get those computers and credit cards ready because the Disneyland Paris Half Marathon weekend is a lot of fun.

There was a ton of Disney happening this week? What is your favorite??? Let me know in the comments below!
