The Great Movie Ride

The Great Movie Ride had its final show Sunday August 13, 2017, so in honor of this amazing ride here are some fun facts!

  • The Great Movie Ride made its debut with Disney’s Hollywood Studios May 1 1989.
  • The attraction takes guests o an 18 minute tour of some of the most famous films in the 1930 Era.
  • Great Moments Movie Museum was the original name for the attraction.
  • The ride  is a full scale reproduction of Hollywood’s legendary Graumann’s Chinese Theater.
  • There are nearly 50 life like animatronic replicas of legendary movie stars. The main audio-animatronics have wigs made out of human hair.
  • If you look closely in the Indiana Jones and the raiders of the Lost Ark scene, you can spot hidden characters: Mickey, Donald and representations of C3P0 and R2D2.

WDW: FastPass+ Cheaters!

Its crazy to think there are cheaters at WDW when it comes to the FP+ system because its Disney, but then again I’m not shocked about this either. In this post ill be talking about the “in-park validation” along with consequences if you are caught cheating and the third party guided tours.

The “in-park validation” means validation of the park admission ticket. Until just recently there has been a loophole with the FP+ systems kiosk. The loophole with the FP+ system kiosk allowed bookings with expired tickets or by using a second ticket on their account to book another set of FP+ for the day. Basically tickets that were not used to for park admission could get you a valid FP+ reservation. Similar loopholes were found with the cast member passes…where 3+ guest passes which allows friends and family entry to the parks with limited restriction on the FP+ booking without redeeming admission.

marceline-tour_998The third party guest tours where people find and book tours though the numerous Disney fan sited, craigslist and more. The tours guarantee FP+ usage for all the attractions for their paying clients. What this means that the employees of these third party tours are at the parks during rope drop with handfuls of expired tickets and cards to book all the major attractions at the kiosks for their clienteles.

fastpassplusThis becomes a problem to the thousands of guests who are playing by the rules and paying admission for that day and now can’t find anything they want to do available during their stay. So Disney has decided to do is the in-park validation, which will check to endure that guests are using an active ticket for admission before redeeming a FP+. The consequences if guests are caught cheating, a cast member can deny entry, ad if you are caught multiple attempts you will be locked out of the MyDisneyExperience accounts so you can’t utilize the FP+ booking option. If the behavior was deemed non-abusove guest relations will be able to unlock the account.

Unknown-1The situation reminds me with the whole thing about the Disability passes when it was a thing to abuse them and now they are impossible to get to the point of non existence. I think what Disney is doing is pretty fair in my opinion because they could take it to a bigger extreme and band you from the park but they’re not. What are your thoughts on this topic? Is it fair? or no? Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Disness: Pinocchio!

Pinocchio is the second animated film released by Disney in 1940. Its a story about a living puppet who has to prove himself worthy to become a real boy with the help of his conscience, name Jiminy Cricket. The film is 1 hour and 28 minutes long and is based off of the Italian book The Adventures of Pinocchio written by Carlo Collodi written in 1883.

md16816927669In oder for people to root for Pinocchio, they drew him as a real boy and added the nuts and bolts to make him a puppet. Disney also changed up the story a bit but also stayed true to the book. For instance, there was a cricket in the original story but Pinocchio smooshed him with a hammer and the cricket returned as a ghost…whereas in Disney’s version Jiminy is Pinocchio’s conscience and doesn’t get smooshed by a hammer.

giphyWhen i think of Pinocchio i think about mainly two things; the art and of course the song “When You Wish Upon A Star”. When i watch the movie, you can see a lot of small detail that make Pinocchio stand out from the others, for example when you are watching all the cuckoo clocks for Geppetto’s shop were based off of working models built as guides for the animators. Not only that but if you look to the left of the screen when the spotlight hits Jiminy as he is singing ‘When You Wish Upon A Star” you can see two books behind him titled: Alice in Wonderland (1951) and Peter Pan (1953).

4AcN2fcIt was the first animated movie EVER to win an Academy Award in a competitive category. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs won an Honorary Academy for being the first ever animated film. Pinocchio was also the first ever film (animated or not) to win an Academy Award for best Score and best Song. This wouldn’t happen again until 1964 with Mary Poppins.

51pMZfQET3L._SY445_Unfortunately the movie didn’t succeed in its initial theatric run due to many different war efforts going on in Europe and Asia, but it made its money back when it was re-released in 1945. Pinocchio was the first Disney film to be released on DVD, plus this Disney classic was re-released several times in theater from the initial released date to 1992.

Cleo-and-Figaro-Pinocchio-1Pinocchio is one of my favorite because i love the Blue Fairy, Figaro and of course Cleo. The movie definitely implanted in my brain to always let my conscience be my guide which i use in everyday life. What is your favorite thing about this Disney classic? The Haunted Mansion!

The Haunted Mansion opened at the Disneyland Resort on August 9, 1969 but has been in development since 1958.  The outside of the attraction was completed six years before it opened. In the ballroom you can see the Organ from the 1954 Live-Action film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Eleanor Audley is the voice of Madame Leota, she is also the voice of Maleficent and Lady Tremaine. On the ride you can also find 999 happy haunts, but the newest one is The Hat Box Ghost which was actually there when the ride first opened. Unfortunately due to technical problems he was quickly removed from the ride and then found his way beck home for the Disneyland Resorts 60th anniversary in 2015.

Since 2001 its been Jack Skelingtons tradition to take over the attraction not just for the Halloween season but for the Christmas season as well. Buddy Baker was the master mind behind the song “Grim Grinning Ghost” he also wrote the music for the stuffed with fluff Winnie The Pooh. Someone personally purchased a tombstone inside the Haunted Mansion in 2004, they paid $37,400.

Haunted Mansion Holiday is my ALL TIME FAVORITE!!! I cannot get enough of it and personally i think its better than the original, crazy right? Let me know in the comments below what is your favorite Haunted Mansion, the original or Holiday?

Leashes: Retractable vs. Classic

This is another controversial subjects in the dog world, i feel like its up there with Harness vs. Collars. Before i get into why i think Classic Leashes are better let me just say…please keep your comments positive and light hearted because everyone is allowed their own opinion, so if you are going to reply make sure you don’t put anyone down.

Retractable leashes i believe is a bad idea for pups who have not been trained yet especially with some type of etiquette. I feel like retractable leashes train your pups to pull because they learn that if they pull they it extends the lead. Where as a classic leash they can still pull but can’t go nearly as far and its easier to keep them close to you and out of harms way and keep them from getting into trouble. Whether you have an aggressive pup or someone else has an aggressive pup, its easier to control your situation with a classic leash because the leash can’t expand and you can keep you pup close to you our of harms way.

An experience that i had with retractable leashes that made me dislike them even more is one of the times my pups and I were out for a walk in the apartments near our house i saw a lady bent over looking through her purse, her pup was on a retractable leash and she wasn’t paying attention what so ever. As we go closer i made sure to move over about to the other side of where her dogs were. Unfortunately her dog followed us and before passing her dog ran up to mine while barking and got tangled up in leashes. We continued to walk and after a good 2 minutes she looked up to see where her dog was and well she had the nerve to yell at me for her dog running up to me and my dogs barking.

Personally, i think if she had a classic leash and would have stepped on that she would have felt her dog pulling towards us and that whole situation would have been avoided. My issue is majority of the dog owners i run into with retractable leashes have no control over their pups and let them run up to other people and dogs. Where as people who use classic leashes have a little bit more control.

Again this is my preference and opinions on this topic, but i would really like to hear your thoughts and opinions on this topic as well so be sure to leave me a comment down below!

Disney California Adventure!

DCA has been changing…Soarin’ Around the World, GOTG: Mission Breakout! And continuing with Marvel Land, Pixar Pier and now the thought of dropping California in the name. With that being said Disney’s Paradise Pier and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa will soon be out of theme with the park changes.

Disney realized that adding Marvel and Pixar into the parks with the new attractions and lands will definitely be magical and a ton of fun for the family but like what Pete Werner said at the D23 Expo maybe it’s time for DCA to drop California because of the changes is going on.

What are your thoughts about DCA becoming just Disney Adventure? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below because in my heart it will always remain DCA!
