13 Nights of Halloween: Hitchhiking Ghost

Nothing screams Halloween like ghosts, especially the hitchhiking ghosts from Disney’s Haunted Mansion especially when you create the eerie mason jar as a cute decoration to spook up your house.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Mason Jar
  • Metalic acrylic paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Hitchhiking ghost stencil
  • Artist maker pens (fine, medium & wide)
  • Washi tape
  • Scissors
  • Battery operated votive

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Crop the hitchhiking ghost stencil, fitting it to your mason jar. Place the stencil inside the jar securing it with tape.
  2. Using the artist pen, trace and outline the ghost, using your medium and wide pens to fill it in.
  3. Take your acrylic paint and paintbrush and paint the inside of the jar. I like to leave it patchy, so it looks eerier.
  4. After the paint dries place in the lights and BOO! You’re finished!

I think this is the perfect addition to my house, especially for Halloween! It’s really easy to make just a bit time to consume because you have to make sure everything is dry before moving on to the next step. If you try this at home, please let me know how they turned out in the comments below! I would love to see your creations!

13 Nights of Halloween: All Hallows Eve

We celebrate Halloween every year on October 31; we celebrate by dressing up, haunted houses, scaring the living daylight out of ourselves and of course trick or treating. Halloween translated to ‘Holy Evening,’ which dates back to the pagan times and thought to originate with the Celtic pagan festival of Harvest season meaning ‘summers end.’

Pumpkins

Gaels believes this time of year was when the walls between the worlds were thin and allowed spirits to pass through. To appease the spirit that might pass, they would set up an extra place at their dinner tables offering the spirits food and drinks whole bonfires were lit to scare away any evil spirits.

Halloween is also known as All Hallows because it’s the day before the feast of All Saints Day, a day that dates back to the 8th century designed to stamp out pagan traditions converting people to Christianity. Christians would honor the Saints and pray for the spirits who haven’t reached heaven yet.

America in 1929, was the first to ‘Trick or Treat.’ People started dressing up as souls of the dead, angels and saints because people believed impersonating the spirit would offer protection from them. Jack O Lantern is believed to come from a folk story where a guy named Jack, tricked the devil into buying him a drink, because of this when he died he couldn’t go to heaven or hell but trapped by the devil inside a burning ember kept inside a turnip.

DOGtober 2017: Day 18

Today we went for a nice walk around the block, slow and steady for the little chub Tarzan. Honestly, he is doing great and has recovered perfectly, but I’m still following the vets orders and he’s not allowed a ton of excercise and hard food until the 14 days are up.

His gums look amazing and his sister is all about being his little shadow again which I love because they are the cutest. The pups and I also did more 13 Nights of Halloween things because tomorrow is the start of DIY’s, recipes and fun fact about this spooktacular season! Thanks for joining us for our first ever DOGtober and we hope to you continue to follow us during 13 Nights!

runDisney: Disneyland Canceled

Today the run Disney website had a bit of a makeover, and you can see that all the Disneyland events have been removed off for 2018. Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend for 2017 is the last event to happen at Disneyland.

Since runDisney didn’t open up registration for the upcoming Disneyland events, I think its safe to say we all got the sense that something like this was going to happen. Disney did confirm after they pulled the races off that it is due to the expansion of Disneyland why they decided to put the Disneyland events on a hiatus.

If I am honest, I’m saddened by this hiatus because I was on my way of getting my Legacy medal and another c2c. I am hoping they will honor my Legacy and once the races start up again, I will be back on track for that bling. I do, however (feeling’s aside) think it was smart on Disney’s behalf to put the races on a hiatus during construction. It would have been very chaotic, and people would complain even more if they had to cut back on some stuff or the course wasn’t in the parks as much as before.

DOGtober 2017: Day 17

Today the pups and I made a bow, and than laid on the couch and watched TV. We have been running around with our heads cut off all this morning so I thought it would be a good time to sit and take a breather before we get back into the swing of things tomorrow.

Tarzan’s gums looks great! They aren’t swollen and Belle is back cuddling with her brother and it fills my heart.

DOGtober 2017: Day 16

Today was a crazy day for the pups and I! Since we are only three days away from 13 Nights of Halloween, we were doing a lot more preparations for those up coming blogs!

Tarzan is still recovering beautifully, unfortunately he really hates his liquified food and just wants to eat his sister but he has one more week of it. He did however like the pumpkin spice pupcakes I made tonight which we will be posting up the recipes in a couple more days. I honestly can’t wait to show you all the crafts the pups and I have been working on!
